New Hampshire hides countless beautiful places and scenic drives, but some of the state’s best are its natural waterslides.
These natural waterslides provide a fun spot to slide down (mostly) smooth rocks into a pool below, and make for a day full of adventure…for both adults and the kiddos!
In this guide, we’ll show you and detail each of New Hampshire’s five natural waterslides.
Franconia Falls Waterslide
Located in the White Mountain National Forest, Franconia Falls Waterslide offers an exhilarating experience with its smooth, rock slide into a refreshing pool.
It’s easily the best in New Hampshire and rivals any of the best natural waterslides in Maine as well. And the surrounding area offers a number of swimming holes to entertain you if the slide’s not enough.
It’s easily accessible via a hike from the Lincoln Woods Trail, making it a popular spot for families and adventurers.
The area around Franconia Falls provides scenic views and picnic spots, allowing visitors to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of New Hampshire.
Swiftwater Falls Waterslide
Swiftwater Falls Waterslide, nestled in the western White Mountains near the town of Bath, features a low-angle slide that catapults riders into a deep pool at the base of the falls.
This natural attraction is most enjoyable during periods of low to moderate water flow.
The beautiful Swiftwater Covered Bridge overlooks this spot, and there are a couple of different great swimming holes onsite as well.
The view from the lower swimming hole looking up at the Swiftwater Falls Waterslide and the bridge in the background is pretty awesome.
Lower Ammonoosuc Falls Waterslide
This unique waterslide is part of Lower Ammonoosuc Falls, located near Crawford Notch.
It offers a long, twisting, and bumpy ride from the midpoint of the falls into a pool below.
Safe at low to medium water levels, one section houses a small cave that can fit two people, adding an element of adventure to the visit.
Explorers should exercise caution and enjoy the surrounding natural beauty and hiking opportunities.
Upper Ammonoosuc Falls Waterslide
Upper Ammonoosuc Falls Waterslide, found near Bretton Woods, is known for its short but thrilling ride with a steep drop into a deep pool.
This spot is notorious for its danger at anything above the lowest water levels, due to a whirlpool near the base.
Despite the risks, it’s a popular location for cliff-jumping and experiencing the raw power of nature.
Visitors are urged to exercise extreme caution and enjoy the area’s scenic beauty safely.
The Pool Waterslide
Deep in the Pemigewasset Wilderness, The Pool Waterslide offers a serene sliding experience with a 20-foot smooth run into a shallow pool.
Located near the Shoal Pond Trail, this hidden gem requires a bit of attention to discover, lying just 15 feet off the path.
It’s an ideal spot for those seeking a quieter, more secluded natural attraction amidst the wilderness, offering a peaceful break from the more adventurous trails.
